NOAH WYLE, ILEANA DOUGLAS, AND KATE MARA STAR IN WITTY AND ENTERTAINING FILM, "THE CALIFORNIANS"
Parker Film Company and Fabrication Films announce the upcoming release of the CALIFORNIANS, a clever new film starring Noah Wyle ("ER"), Ileana Douglas ("Six Feet Under"), Cloris Leachman, Keith Carradine, Valerie Perrine and beautiful and multi-talented newcomer Kate Mara ("Brokeback Mountain").
Filmmakers Jonathan Parker (writer/Director) and Catherine di Napoli (writer/Producer) pit a smug developer (Wyle) against his ultra-enviromentalist sister (Douglas). She and other ardent tree-huggers aim to nix the brothers land grabbing dreams, which threaten to blanket the hills of Northern California with gaudy mini-mansions. When a radiant folk singer (Mara) joins the environmentalists' cause, she ignites the passions of both the developer brother and the radical sister, setting in motion a whirl of conflicting feelings and relationships.
The idealistic and innocent folk singer, coached by her hippie parents (Carradine and Perrine) and a maternal environmentalist (leachman), must choose between her ideals and her emotions.
In a wry twist on Henry James' 1886 "The Bostonians," a classic tale of zealotry and conflicting relationships, THE CALIFORNIANS pokes fun at any individual or group that clings too close to its cause.
